FabFitFun: Summer 2018! + Add-ons
So, we're a little late to this un-boxing. Illness is the worst, especially when you don't know the cause. Anyway, onto the highly-anticipated FabFitFun summer box for 2018! Disclaimer: This post contains affiliate links. We get a small something to use for add-ons when our affiliate links are used.
The Box
Since its launch, we know some people were not knocked out over this box, but we loved it! It contained a lot of wonderful products that are especially good for travel. FOREO did an exclusive launch with their LUNA fofo ($89 retail), which provides a personalized skin profile. The full app is now available, and you can read more on how to use the device here. Each box not only contained the fofo, but also a Pier 1 Marble Trinket Dish and COOLA Face Sport Sunscreen/Moisturizer SPF 50 ($32 retail). The Pier 1 dish was okay. The quality isn't the greatest-- you can see how grainy the printed marble pattern is, and the dish in this box also had a small pit in it (most likely from the molding process). The retail value of the dish is $14.99 retail, but out of the packaging it looks like something I'd find in the Dollar Spot at Target. That being said, it looks great from a distance, as do many things, eh? I almost forgot to mention the Wildlife Conservation Paper Straw (not pictured). The idea behind it is wonderful, and I no longer use plastic straws, but I really wish this had been glass, plastic, or something more than just a single-use item.
Here are the Choice Items we picked:
We chose the train case in navy. The Yumi Kim train case (our first Choice Item) held everything from our summer box and then some! It was either the train case or a Summer & Rose beach towel. Since I have a Sun Bum towel ($55 retail), I opted for the train case. I was happily surprised at the quality of the case and that I got the navy color. While there is a string loose at the top, the stitching is not falling apart. The case is sturdy and can hold its shape on its own. There is a top section that has spaces specifically for brushes with a protective covering, as well as a separate zippered pouch. The bottom half is a large open area that can easily hold a Clarisonic, a couple of eye/lip palettes, toothpaste, deodorant, and so much more. At the end of this post, I will have a photo of what I use, and can fit, in the case.
Next up, we have the Jaboneria Marianella Hawaiian Black Lava Body Caviar ($48 retail). The other options were an ERTH TO Y YO ring and Aromatherapy Associates De Stress Muscle Gel. I'm wishing I had chosen the ring or muscle gel, but didn't think they would be used. The body caviar (fancy term for scrub in this case) had a large layer of oil that needed to be mixed. That isn't a problem, but the scent is horrible. Its got this tobacco-esque, old holiday potpourri (like the stuff from those tchotchke shops) scent. Luckily, it doesn't linger after you use the scrub.
I chose the tarte Tartiest Pro To Go Palette + Sex Kitten Liquid Liner ($43 retail for both). Since I have quite an extensive collection of makeup, this duo will make for a great holiday or birthday gift.
Between the Vasanti Brighten Up! Enzymatic Face Rejuvinator ($29 retail), Maji Sports Loop Resistance Band, and the Minor History Post Script Wallet. Since I have a loop resistance band from a previous box and have no need for a wallet that can only hold a couple of items, I chose the face product.
The final choice was between the Orlando Pita Play Atmos Shield Hair Protectant Treatment Spray and the Elemis Papaya Enzyme Peel ($45 retail). I chose the Elemis product. I think it will be fun to use on the next at-home spa day I have.
Box Value:
FOREO LUNA fofo: $89.00
COOLA Face SPF: $32.00
Pier 1 Trinket Plate: $14.99
Yumi Kim Case: $55.00
Body Caviar: $48.00
tarte Palette + liner: $43.00
Face Rejuvinator: $29.00
Elemis Enzyme Peel: $45.00
Wildlife Straw: $3.00

Add-Ons
I should start off by saying that I have never purchased add-ons in the years I have been a subscriber. This quarter was different. Not only did we get some Christmas and birthday shopping completed, but we also found a few things for ourselves. In my opinion, the mystery bundle was not worth it, but retail price-wise, it was a deal. Here is what we got:
- Summer & Rose Sun Hat w/Changeable Bands
- Apothecary 90291 Face Oils in Midnight in Corsica 03 & Luminous 01
- Mystery Bundle (Whish Body Butter + Shower Gel + Exfoliating Wash, Doucce Luscious Lip Stain, & Pure Cosmetics Brush Set)
- Mint Cocofloss (x3. It is the best floss we've ever used, even though it is incredibly overpriced)
- Travel Glamglow Youthmud
- Mini Speaker
- living proof shampoo & conditioner (8oz size)
The total was around $160 for all of the add-ons, and just the two face oils alone retail for $270 ($120 for 01 and $150 for 03). I'd say, all-in-all, the add-ons were a definite money saver. Though I can't help but hear the words of my father and grandfather, "You know how you would have saved money? Not buying them at all."
Unfortunately, the summer box is sold out, but you can still sign up and receive the Editor's Box. Subscribe for yourself or give them as gifts! The boxes make for a nice surprise, no matter who receives them. If you are interested, click here and use the code EPIC for $10 OFF your first box!
