OZ Naturals: Super Youth Retinol Moisturizer (2.5%)

Image
Image courtesy of OZ Naturals For about 1.5 months I have been using a retinol moisturizer by OZ Naturals.  The formula contains retinol (obviously), hyaluronic acid, Vitamin E, and a variety of other ingredients to help correct signs of aging.  With most products, whether I have received them in exchange for an unbiased review or purchased them myself, I will see results by the end of a 30-day trial period.  With this moisturizer I saw results within the first two weeks.  I can honestly say that I will purchase this product in the future.  Due to the changing weather (and medications) my skin-- mostly the area around my hairline and eyebrows, is incredibly dry.  It's embarrassing.  You know that orange ring people get when they wear the wrong foundation?  Well, imagine that, but in dead skin around the hairline, and that's pretty much what I'm dealing with.  The skin at the start of my eyebrows is dry, too, and since I have...

In Two Weeks...

Image
I will be headed off to another country in two weeks time.  I realize that I have been a bit absent, but I am trying to get several things finished prior to the trip.  In the last week there have been some new developments (work-wise), and I am currently working on the IRB application for my proposed research.  Here's hoping I am able to get all of the approvals necessary to begin research by summer.  Yes, things happen, and I was hoping to be completely done by summer of 2015...well, there were some hiccups, so I am a bit behind regarding my target date.  Such is life though.  Soon I will have a post about things in my carry-on, what I (usually) have in the morning, recipes, and some other fun product reviews.  Until then, here is a video by Tastemade & Laura Miller featuring one of my favorite dairy-free ice cream alternatives:                    ...

Three Ingredient Chao Mac & "Cheese"

Image
This version was a little less saucy than I wanted it to be, but it was still amazing. I am so in love with Field Roast's Chao it's not even funny.  Chao is, by far, the best tasting vegan cheese-like product I have ever eaten.  You can read more about my thoughts here .  With three ingredients, you can have a pretty tasty vegan version of mac & cheese. Ingredients : Chao Slices by Field Roast (any flavor, but I prefer using Original) Pasta (I prefer Rotini or Elbow Macaroni) Non-dairy milk (I used soy, but almond works just as well) How-to : You may notice that I don't have any measurements.  That is because I don't believe in using them unless they are absolutely necessary.  Anyway, boil the pasta according to the packaging.  I always add some salt to the water since pasta is pretty bland, but it's optional.  While the pasta is cooking, get your non-dairy milk and Chao out.  Generally, I use two Chao slices for one serving and...

Valentia: Royal Rose Hydrating Serum

Image
Image courtesy of valentia.com Valentia has some pretty effective products that are made in the USA and are also vegan friendly.  Their Royal Rose Hydrating Serum is one of them.  It is a lightweight, lightly-fragranced serum that delivers soothing hydration to skin.  I have been using this product day and night for the past 30 days, and am quite pleased with the results.  One pump is all my face needs.  After cleansing and toning I applied one pump of the serum, patted it all over my face, then rubbed it in.  The formula is fast-absorbing and virtually weightless.  I noticed a hint of rose scent, but that quickly dissipated.  Damask rose essential oil is one of the ingredients in the serum, which is known for its moisturizing and anti-inflammatory properties.  Vitamin B, which reduces sunspots and hyper-pigmentation, is also included, as well as primrose oil for moisture along with its other quality ingredients.  Within the secon...
