Gift-Giving Guide, Part 4: Technology, Gadgets, & Travel

Image
There are tons of gadgets available so it's hard to pick just a few.  What is on your holiday list? 1.  ESPRO Insulated Coffee & Tea Press , $49.95 Image courtesy of brookstone.com Know anyone who can't live without their tea or coffee?  I must admit that I am one of those people.  I also don't mind saying that I kind of want to buy this for myself.  Who wouldn't love the perfect cup of their favorite fresh-pressed tea or coffee?  Whether it's made ahead of time to enjoy on the way to the office or made so it's ready to enjoy at the office, the tea/coffee will be amazing and stay hot for up to 6 hours.  Comes in black, stainless steel, and white. 2.  Perfect Bake:  App-Controlled Smart Baking , $69.99 (currently on sale, $49.99) Image courtesy of brookstone.com At CES 2015, we watched the demo for this "smart baking" set.  I think it's a wonderful gift for those who are just starting to bake, as it does far more than...

Holidays at Roger's Gardens

Image
It's hard to believe the holidays are upon us.  Before we know it, it will be a new year!  I always try to have my holiday shopping done by August, unless I am making gifts.  I have about half of my list checked off, so I guess that's something.  Anyway, the stores are starting to be decked out in holiday cheer.  Today, we took a trip down to Roger's Gardens , which put me more in the holiday mood.  There was a Halloween section and a Christmas/holiday section, both of which were beautifully decorated.  There were also some interesting props, which I wouldn't mind having if I had the space.    This is the doorway to the Halloween-themed area of the grounds.  How fun is it?!  It reminds me of entering a house of horrors that has a circus-type theme.  When we stepped inside, that is exactly what it was like.  A carnival of spooky decor, trinkets, Halloween-themed paper lanterns, and so much more.  On the ceiling ...

Mini ULTA Haul

So I thought I would be productive and get a head-start on Christmas shopping.  Since Halloween and fall have been taking over stores since August, you know the holiday items will soon follow.  I try to get most of my shopping done over summer, unless there are holiday sets I can't pass up.  ULTA had some good promotions, a couple of which may still be available, and BOOM, half my Christmas list is complete (okay, not half, but nearly).  Anyway, here is what I purchased: Sorry!  The picture isn't the greatest. 1.  ULTA Brand Eyeshadow Palette:  Gilded Gold Image courtesy of ulta.com For a store brand, ULTA has good-quality pigments.  Both this and the Gilded Rose palette are great for anyone who is looking for something to travel with, or someone who is just starting to wear eyeshadow.  There are several finishes (i.e matte, shimmer, etc.) and colors from across the more neutral spectrum.  You can go from a fresh, no-makeup...

Fashion Friday: "Baby, It's Cold Outside!"

Image
Today is Friday, which means it's time to discuss something related to...you guessed it...fashion!  It's been quite chilly here over the last week or so (okay, cold for us in Southern California).  I, personally, have to wear layers and layers to keep warm.  Unfortunately, for feet, it's a different story.  You can't always wear several layers of socks, which is where these come into play: From Merryn, 2014. These moccasins were a gift from my friend, Merryn, in Australia.  I cannot tell you what a godsend these are!  From soft and warm lining to the durable outer material and sole (so I can wear them outdoors), these are the best!  I have, literally, worn them every single day, all day (until bedtime, of course!).  Never again will I have to worry about my feet or toes freezing, especially when I head to the desert or mountains.  Find a pair to fit your winter needs, here . . From Grandma, Christmas 2013. Also, speaking of ke...
